Weekly Wrap-Up #1 – 9/6/2020

Weekly Wrap-Up #1

Welcome to our first-ever Sam Macy Designs/Life Outside the Shop (LOTS) Weekly Wrap-Up!

We decided to shoot a quick video each week to keep you in the loop about what is going on in Sam’s shop and on the blog.

Although, if I’m being honest it didn’t feel quick while we were getting all set up and ready. It took us a solid hour to figure out how to trick my computer into letting us record with both mics. BUT, we got it all figured out now, and (fingers crossed) it will be quick for you guys AND us next week;)

Make sure to watch all the way to the end for an important pupdate that we’ve been DYING to share;) And, please excuse our weird faces, “um’s” and “so’s” as we get used to this whole thing.

What we’re watching

Both: Season 3 of Alone on Hulu. Think Survivor meets Naked and Afraid… and then add snow.

What we’re watching (YouTube)

Sam: BobbyGuyFilms
Ali: Note quite youtube, but I’ve been nerding out on Adobe Premiere Pro tutorials (yep, yours truly is going to start helping Sam with video editing – stay tuned!)
Both: Standing Stone Kennels‘ GSP Puppy Training Videos.

What we’re reading

Sam: Currently watching Youtube before bed because he can’t get through The Shining.
Ali: The Court of Thorns & Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. 10/10 recommend if you love some adult fantasy.

What we’re eating

Both: Using the air fryer to make spicy turkey meatballs was the best lazy cooking idea Sam ever had. We mix 93% lean turkey with salt, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes then separate it into 1oz balls. They cook for about 15-20 min and they’re ready to go!

For dessert? I made my own rendition of Mile High Mitt’s Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread to share with friends on Saturday night. It was a HIT.

Here is what I switched

  • 1/8c coconut oil + 1/8c plain greek yogurt subbed for 1/4c coconut oil
  • 1c almond flour + 1c quick oats subbed for 1 3/4c oat flour
  • Coconut sugar subbed for regular sugar

Then I added…

  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/2c walnuts
  • 3tbs maple syrup (my banans def weren’t ripe enough so I needed a little extra sweetness! Plus, maple syrup makes everything better.)
  • A huge handful of chocolate chips

There you have it… Our first Weekly Wrap-Up! We can’t wait to share more next week. If you have any questions you want us to answer, throw them in the comments here, on YouTube, or you can send them right to @sammacydeisgns or @ali_c123 on Instagram.
